​Ronan McKee is an accomplished solo and ensemble performer, having played and recorded with many orchestras, brass bands, percussion ensembles, dance companies, folk, jazz and rock groups.

Ronan was the Principal Timpanist with Yorkshire Building Society Brass Band during a very successful period from 1994-1999, winning a number of major titles including 2 European Brass band Championships, under the baton of Prof David King.
​Ronan has also performed with Backbeat Percussion Ensemble and more recently with Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Company, Walk the Plank and The Beat Carnival. He has toured with The Hofesh Shechter Company performing their acclaimed work Political Mother. Ronan also works regularly with the Ulster Orchestra performing and delivering educational workshops
From 1998-2009 Ronan was the Percussion tutor for the over 18s National Youth Orchestra of Ireland.

Ronan conducted and composed music for Kirklees Percussion Ensemble for over ten years and led them to three consecutive performances at the Children's Proms Music for Youth Festival at the Royal Albert Hall and an appearance on Blue Peter. Whilst living in England, he developed and delivered educational programmes for the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
​After travelling to Senegal several times to study African Drumming with the Master Drummer Seckou Keita, Ronan set up his educational company Play Percussion. Since 2007 he has worked throughout Ireland in community groups and early years settings delivering African Drumming and World Percussion workshops. Ronan was a keynote speaker at the 2013 & 2015 Early Years International Conference on the importance of music provision in early years education. Ronan delivers regular percussion workshops for Artscare NI and is a music facilitator for The Pushkin Trust.
