Rob Richardson - Baritone & EuphoniumRob Richardson has enjoyed a long career performing as 1st baritone with many of the UK’s foremost brass bands, including Fairey, Grimethorpe, YBS, Black Dyke, Fodens and Kirkintilloch. Throughout his formative years in Scotland, Rob had great success as a soloist, winning the Scottish Junior and Scottish Schools solo titles several times, and also taking the Junior Baritone title at the National Euphonium and Baritone Conference in 1998. He was both Principal Baritone and Principal Euphonium of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland, and Principal Baritone for each of his seven courses with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.
Rob has performed as a soloist and given masterclasses and tuition in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the USA and New Zealand and is committed to raising the profile of the baritone and to developing its repertoire further. Along with being the first baritone player to be awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM), he holds Grade 8 certificates on three other instruments and is an accomplished pianist, regularly accompanying soloists for recordings, recitals, examinations and competitions. Rob is also a published composer and in June 2016 was awarded second place in a national conducting competition organised by the National Association of Brass Band Conductors. After spells teaching music and managing music departments in the UK and China, Rob now lives and works at Institut le Rosey, a boarding school in Rolle, Switzerland. |
