FTBBSS 18 started off with a record number of participants on the first day. Attracting players from the Wardle Academy in Rochdale to participants from Co.Tipperary & Limerick. It started off with ice/breakers/warm ups with MD Mr Les Neish followed by a Play Through all the music for the course. Fantastic day @ the FREE YOUTH BRASS WORKSHOP with 40 kids joining the tutor team for warm up games, sectionals and a quick rehearsal for a fun mini concert in the evening. The Mini concert included pieces that the youth band worked on in the workshop with solos by Kathleen Gaspoz & Owen Farr including a short piece by the Tutors in a Disney Mash Up.
Great morning with the Drogheda Brass Band as we started DAY TWO of the #ontour workshops.
Owen brought a masterclass to the participants & finished off with a short recital to round the morning off. Great first day #ontour with the Lourdes Brass Band from Droghea. Les & Owen did workshops with the junior band to start off & then the senior band in the evening. On to the next stop..

Full Rehearsals will be led by Musical Director & co-founder of the course Mr Les Neish. Joining Les on the team is Owen Farr, the Artistic Advisor and Tenor Horn extraordinaire. Owen is a welcome addition to the team having been involved with the course for 4 years, raising awareness of the Tenor Horn with his lyrical tone and stunning technical precision. FTBBSS is proud to announce that Kathleen Gaspoz is the Guest Artist for the 2018 course. Kathleen is without doubt a ground breaking musician, recently becoming the principal cornet of the world famous Brighouse and Rastrick Band. The first female principal cornet in the band’s 136 year history!! Beside Kathleen on cornet, we have Brian Taylor. Brian is respected throughout the banding world as a true accomplished musician. He is admired for his commitment to the Fairey Band totalling over 40 years. Brian is known as a master of his craft and an inspiration to any brass player. In charge of the Euphs & Baris is James McLeod. James has been with the course over 4 years now with experience in playing with the Cory Band and enjoying 5 years as principal euphonium with the Leyland Band. Joining James in the Low Brass section is newcomer and home bird Mick Marshall. He is the Associate Principal Trombone of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and also a Courtois/Besson trombone artist. Last but not least we have Ronan McKee on Percussion. Ronan is an accomplished solo and ensemble performer, having played with the Yorkshire Building Society Brass Band during a very successful period from 1994-1999, winning a number of major titles including 2 European Brass band Championships, under the baton of Prof David King. On their different roles they can help you succeed in your own individual goals giving you a chance to Perform, Learn & Socialise with some of the best educators in the business. FTBBSS.com |
