Lucy Cutt - Cornet/Flugel Horn Tutor
|
We are thrilled to announce Lucy Cutt as our new Cornet/FlugelHorn Tutor.
Lucy began her musical journey at the age of 8 with the Marple Junior Band. Demonstrating remarkable talent and dedication, she progressed through the ranks, joining the B Band before making her way into the senior Marple Band at 18 in 1990. That same year marked her debut at the Grand Shield, where her band qualified for their first of many appearances at the prestigious British Open. Over the years, Lucy experienced numerous successes with Marple Band. The most memorable was in 1996 when, as an unsponsored village band, they were crowned British Open Champions—an incredible achievement following four top-six finishes since their first appearance at the contest. In January 2004, Lucy joined the Fairey Band, enjoying five rewarding years with them. After a brief hiatus from banding, she returned to the scene in January 2011 with Brighouse & Rastrick Band. During her tenure, she contributed to the band’s victories at the Yorkshire Regional Contest and secured a coveted National Title at the Royal Albert Hall. Lucy’s talent has taken her across the globe—most notably performing at the European Championships with Fairey’s and, in 2024, as a guest soloist with Brighouse & Rastrick. In January 2016, she rejoined the Fairey Band before moving to the Desford Band in August 2022. The ‘project band’ approach at Desford allows her greater flexibility to pursue other commitments while maintaining a high standard of performance. A former Yamaha artist, Lucy has performed as a guest soloist and has worked with the NYBBGB as a flugel horn tutor, as well as participating in various band courses. Beyond her musical pursuits, Lucy has built a career outside of banding. She has worked for over 30 years as HR Manager at an electronics manufacturing company in Stockport. |
